Hollywood, CA July 13, 2009 – The line-up for the 13th edition of LA Shorts Fest (July 23- 31) contains diverse genres and subject matter contained in over 280 short films, music videos and commercials by established and emerging talent from around the globe. LA Shorts Fest ’09 opens July 23, 2009 night with a red carpet that should be one of the most talent concentrated nights in Hollywood this summer.
Aside from the celebrities, the program is featuring Tomorrow Talent from around the globe in the race for the ultimate Academy Awards nomination and Oscar win.
LA Shorts Fest ’09 will be held at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theatre, 8000 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90048.
LA Shorts Fest honors those individuals who have achieved excellence in short films. As the largest short film festival in the world with more than 280 films screening and 9 days of “coffee chats” guest speakers, interactive and entertaining events, the festival has become the industry standard for showcasing and awarding undiscovered talent.
The award categories are: BEST MUSIC VIDEO, BEST CREATIVE COMMERCIAL, BEST DOCUMENTARY, BEST EXPERIMENTAL, BEST ANIMATION, BEST COMEDY, BEST DRAMA, BEST FOREIGN FILM and BEST OF FEST.
As officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences, some of these films may go on to receive Oscar nominations. In the past, 33 films have received Oscar nominations with 11 winning the coveted Oscar statue.
