In its brief life span, the Festival has become a leading juried competition showcase for international independent filmmakers and<span style=\"color: #666666;\">their work. In 2008, RIIFF <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #666666;\">screened<strong> 289 <\/strong>cinematic works\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666666;\">in seven days to large and appreciative crowds<\/span>. These films were submitted from over<strong> 53 <\/strong>countries, and\u00a0<strong>32 <\/strong>states in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\">The Festival presented\u00a0<strong>58 World Premieres<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>41 US\/North American Premieres<\/strong>.
